14 million people in the UK are living in poverty (CAP 2023). In Gateshead  32,700 people in Gateshead are living in poverty (Gateshead Council 2019).  Alive Church is located in an area which falls within the 10% most deprived areas in England. We believe that everyone should experience dignity and freedom and have the opportunity to live life in all of its fullness. Alive Church is committed to tackling the causes of poverty by partnering with CAP to provide budgeting advice and debt help.  

Debt Centre

The Debt Centre provides a free debt counselling service for those with unmanageable debt, however small or large. It is face-to-face – unless inconvenient. It is comprehensive, including a bankruptcy and insolvency service. It provides support all the way through to becoming debt free. This service empowers people to take back control of their finances and offers support all the way through to them becoming debt free. 

Money Course

The CAP Money Course is a free course which teaches budgeting skills and a simple system to successfully manage your money. In just two weeks, you will get to grips with your finances so you can budget, save and prevent debt.

You’ll receive up-to-date, expert advice on different topics that will help you navigate your day-to-day finances.

-How to build and balance a household budget

-Learn how to structure your finances using a system proven to work

– Find ways to save more and get the most out of your spare cash

– Learn how to use credit wisely and navigate unmanageable debt

– Explore the difference between essential and optional expenses and find ways to realistically cut costs

Whether you already feel pretty organised or whether you feel the panic rising when you try to spend money from your account, the CAP Money Course will help you take complete control of your finances.
